About us and how we got here

After studying Young Enterprise at Fazakerley High school I knew I wanted to run my own business but had no idea what to do. I knew I didn't want to go to University and so I started working in Matalan on Switch Island and I enjoyed every minute of it and worked with some wonderful people.

I reluctantly left Matalan to join the new H&M store in Liverpool and helped set up the new store in the Trafford centre (showing my age) but ultimately working in menswear wasn't for me and so I decided to take time out to decide what to do. To pass the time I was offered a job in my local pub (the Warbreck) were I spent 2 happy years again working with a lovely bunch of people and to this day is still my local and also were I met Hubbie Anthony :)

An opportunity arose to buy a business just down the road from the Warbreck. It was a party store which had been established over 20 years and I thought why not!! Having absolutely no experience I was thrown in at the deep end as my first job was a wedding at Aintree Racecourse and to be honest, it was the learning curve that I needed.

After 7 very happy and successful years, I decided it was time to expand and buy another business which my lovely mum agreed to run for me. I purchased Kimberleys Cards in Litherland and turned it into The Card & Balloon Store. Business was booming and so Anthony and I decided it was time to start a family and in in July 2011 along came baby Jamie.

Running 2 stores, a website and a ever growing Facebook page was more difficult than I could have imagined, and so I made the difficult decision to sell my Moss Lane store and concentrate on my Card & Balloon Store which is where I am currently.

I have now been balloon decorating for over 20 years and are beginning to get around to do 18th's and 21st's for babies that I had christenings for when I started out!!

This isn't just my job it's my passion and I want to thank all my lovely customers who make my job the best in the world :) :)
